What Are Asian Handicaps?
If you know what normal handicaps are all about, it’s high time for you to get into betting on Asian handicaps, as those take things to a completely new level, allowing for more betting options – and who wouldn’t want more of those?
The main difference between normal handicaps and Asian handicaps is that Asian handicaps also allow for void bets. Whereas the former have lines like -1.5 goals, -3.5 games, or -22.5 points, Asian handicaps can have lines like -1 goals, -3 games, or -22 points. If the final difference is bigger than the line, all bets are settled traditionally. If the final difference is equal to the line, however, all bets will be voided by the bookmaker.
This is quite important in some sports, as some results are much more likely than other. In football, for example, wins by one goal occur way more often than wins by more goals, so it usually makes a lot of sense to prefer 1 goal lines over 1.5 goals lines.
On top of all this, Asian handicaps also allow for some really odd-looking Asian lines like -1.25 goals. That topic is quite complicated, however, so we’ve decided to dedicate an entire separate article to it!
